Estate and Succession Planning for IT & Managed Services Business

Most owner-operated IT and managed services businesses run on the owner's client relationships, credentials and technical knowledge. This session looks at what happens to the business — and the family behind it — if the owner is suddenly out of the picture through death or incapacity, and what can be put in place now to avoid that.
The session covers:
Personal estate planning essentials — Wills and what happens without one, Enduring Powers of Attorney, superannuation death benefit nominations and testamentary trusts
Business succession structures — buy-sell agreements and how they are funded, shareholder and partnership agreements, and reducing key-person dependency
Traps specific to IT and MSP businesses — assignment and change-of-control clauses in client and vendor contracts, and digital asset and credential registers
Current tax developments — the small business CGT concessions and the reforms taking effect from 1 July 2027
Attendees will leave with a five-item action list to work through.
