Peer Mentor Group

Welcome to the SMBIT Perth Chapter Peer Mentor Group

This is the inaugural meeting of the SMBIT Professionals, Perth Chapter, Peer Mentor Group. This group is specifically targeted to help members develop their business. This member driven group will draw on the wealth and breadth of experience of our members. Each monthly meeting will have a new topic, but there will be flexibility to target those discussions to members requirements. The plan is for each member to leave with a set of goals to achieve by the next meeting, as well as developing longer term goals and strategies.

In this inaugural meeting we will be working on :

  • the structure of the meetings
  • a schedule of topics covered
  • the importance of committing to the group
  • the importance of member contribution
  • developing a discussion portal for the group (FB, Teams, Slack, etc)
  • possibility of rotating the meeting chairperson each month

Meeting preparation:

  • Write a list of 5 areas of your business that you would like to develop in this group. Please be specific (eg NOT accounting, instead say debt recovery, payment gateways, chart of accounts, ... etc).
  • Write down 2 areas of business development that you believe you have some experience and could lead discussion in a future meeting.
  • Have 3 goals to give to the group, there might be business, document a process, implement a tool etc, Read a book on employee engagement, technical, or even personal (ie lose 5kg)

These will be your 3 accountability items to report back on the next month, as to whether you’ve finished them, need help, or haven’t done them.  The group will then be able to offer advice or assistance in meeting your goals.

For this group to work all attendees will be required to commit to attending all meetings (unless an emergency prohibits this). If you are unable to attend, you will need to submit feedback or a summary of your progress from the previous month in writing before the meeting.
