Privacy '...in the light of cloud'

The presentation's title, "Privacy '...in the light of cloud'", refers to the well known remark made by Larry Ellison (CEO Oracle Corporation) at Oracle OpenWorld 2008 when he said, "But I don't understand what we would do differently in the light of cloud." The presentation addresses the practical challenges faced by businesses in respect of privacy laws in Australia, with a focus on cloud computing.
Issues which will be discussed include the main threats to privacy, including the collection of information, inappropriate or unauthorised access and exposure of data to third parties, 'function creep' and concerns arising where infrastructure is controlled by third parties and may potentially be located in other legal jurisdictions. The presentation will further address matters to consider when negotiating agreements with third parties for cloud computing services.
